In this week’s podcast, we discuss supplements you should take that will keep you in good health as you age. As we get older, our body starts to produce less and less of its natural hormones. Things like testosterone and human growth hormone all decrease as we age. However, we can supplement with some things that can replace what our body used to make itself in our younger years, allowing us to live a long and healthy life.

The five supplements we recommend are:

The first supplement we recommend is Co-Q10. This is an essential component of the electron transfer chain in our mitochondria and a potent antioxidant our body uses to fight off the harmful effects from free radicals.

The second supplement is the sugar D-Ribose. This sugar is unique because it comprises the backbone of ATP, which our body uses for fuel. As well as the backbone for DNA and RNA in our entire body.

The third supplement is creatine. This is a naturally occurring peptide in our body consisting of three amino acids. It is commonly used by weight lifters to increase the size and strength of their muscles. However, creatine plays an important role in every high energy system in our body so therefore, it’s capable of improving overall health in many ways.

The fourth supplement magnesium. This is a vital mineral that the vast majority of people are deficient in. It is a cofactor in over 600 reactions in our body. Meaning, it is required for these reactions to occur. It is attached to every ATP molecule in our body and makes ATP biologically active and usable.

The fifth supplement is a quality animal based protein powder. As we age, it becomes harder and harder to maintain adequate muscle mass. This is because our bodies become more resistant to the anabolic effects of the amino acid L-Leucine. Our bodies will require more than the typical 3g of Leucine to stimulate muscle protein synthesis which is how our body maintains muscle mass.

L- Carnitine, Glycine, Vitamin K2, Vitamin D and salt.

To learn more about why and how you should supplement with these substances listen to this week’s podcast.
