You are currently viewing Podcast Episode 109 The Statin Scam Part 1- Diet Heart Hypothesis

In this week’s podcast, we discuss the history of the cholesterol lowering medications commonly referred to as statins. This is part one of a three part series on statins. These are easily one of the most prescribed drugs in the world and they are intended to prevent heart disease by lowering LDL cholesterol. Here’s the thing, having lower LDL cholesterol will not lower your risk of having a heart attack. Half the people in the world that suffer a heart attack actually have low LDL values. So you might be asking, why then do doctors prescribe this medication? That’s what we discuss on this week’s podcast. We breakdown the genesis of the ‘Diet Heart Hypothesis” which gave rise to the fear of fat and cholesterol and we also show that there has never been any good science showing that a reduction of either dietary fat or dietary cholesterol lowers ones risk of having a heart attack. To learn more about statins and why they’re the biggest scam in the history of medicine, listen to this week’s podcast.
